How to Access SQL Server Docker (Running on MAC) from Power BI (Running on Parallels)

I am trying to access a SQL Server database through Power BI (in a "Parallels" virtual environment) that is running in Docker on my MacBook.

HOW SHOULD I CONFIGURE TO GAIN ACCESS ?

I want to be able to access this database within Power BI...

Details:

  • Docker is running on a MacBook M1, and I am using Azure Data Studio to access the SQL Server in Docker. Everything is working smoothly.

I have already tried addresses like the Docker IPAddress and other solutions that I found online, but none of them worked.

Can someone give me some guidance?

    You would use the Mac’s hostname (as know by the parallels vm) as the server. You might want to change the Mac hostname to be simpler. You could also just use the Mac’s ipaddress.

    In the windows vm you should be able to ping Mac by hostname. If you do not have local network hostname resolution, then you will need to update the host file and manually add the hostname.
