Front Door URL redirect not routing to Azure app

Say I have an Azure app service - abc.com
Now I have another Azure app service - hub.com
I want to reroute abc.com/hub to hub.com but maintain the URL as -
abc.com/hub
Currently I have setup two origin groups and routes for each. Also a rule set which uses URL rewrite.
what's happening is on - abc.com/hub i get - hub.com/hub
