installing app - inprint 3 via intune

I'm attempting to deploy an app called InPrint 3 using Intune. The installation requires modifying the core.msi file to package the license key, which I've done successfully. After packaging the application, I uploaded it to Intune for deployment. However, during installation via Intune, I receive an error: "The application was not detected after installation completed successfully."

When I install the modified MSI manually, it works perfectly. The detection rule in Intune is set to look for the MSI, but it seems that Intune isn't detecting it correctly. Any suggestions on what might be causing this issue?

If I install the inprint.msi via intune before the core.msi the applications doesnt get the license key

    Hi @Aran Billen

Try Rule Type - File according to Detection rules guide.

File: Verify based on file or folder detection, date, version, or size.

    • Path: Enter the full path of the folder that contains the file or folder to detect. This shouldn't include special characters such as , or ".
    • File or folder: Enter the file or folder to detect.
    • Detection method: Select the type of detection method used to validate the presence of the app.
    • Associated with a 32-bit app on 64-bit clients: Select Yes to expand any path environment variables in the 32-bit context on 64-bit clients. Select No (default) to expand any path variables in the 64-bit context on 64-bit clients. 32-bit clients will always use the 32-bit context.

    Examples of file-based detection

    Check for file existence.

@Aran Billen, Thanks for posting Q&A.

Based on the error message "The application was not detected after installation completed successfully", it relates to the detection rule failed to detect after app installation completed.

Here are some suggestions you can refer to fix this issue.

1.What kind of app package type did you uploaded into Intune? .intunwin or .msi?

2.Try to update the detection method to see if the issue can be fixed.

For the File and Registry detection rule type, you can manually install the app and check the location on targeted device.

For MSI detection rule type, you can follow the link below to check out.https://techuisitive.com/intune-win32-app-deployment-failed-with-error-0x87d1041c/
