Having issues with my trackball mouse. Most of the time when I single click in Microsoft edge or windows, I get an annoying double click. makes it tough when selecting files or text. Have tried several different mice/trackballs with the same results. went into mouse settings and slowed double click all the way down to no avail. Any ideas. BTW: I don't use any software for the trackball other than what windows installs and never did. TIA

You can adjust the double-click speed to make it less sensitive or more sensitive. If your mouse is registering double-clicks too quickly, making it less sensitive might help.
In the mouse settings, look for the double-click speed adjustment.

Open the Control Panel.

Click Hardware and Sound.

Click Mouse.

In the Mouse Properties window, click the Activities tab.

Drag the slider left to slow down the mouse double-click speed or right to speed up the mouse double-click speed.

Test your computer with another mouse to see if the issue persists. This will help determine if the problem is with the mouse or the computer.

Thank you, that's the first thing I tried. I even tried 3 different mice and different usb port with the same results. Remove usb ports from device manage. Even had to slow down the keyboard repeat rate just to type without repeats. Starting to drive me crazy.

Open Registry editor as Admin and locate:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse.

Scroll down the main pane until you find the “MouseSensitivity” entry and double-click it. In the “Value data” field, enter a number, with 1 representing the lowest speed, and 20 the highest.

Here you lower the value data and Press “OK".

Sometimes, third-party software can interfere with mouse functionality. Try starting Windows in Safe Mode and see if the double-clicking issue persists.
