UWP app performance is slower when compared to Windows desktop application(WPF)

I am developing an application in UWP and where I have to download data form network on button click.
In Windows desktop application(WPF) it is taking lower time(11 sec) as compared to UWP(33 sec).
So, does any one has idea on these performance impact on uwp as compared to wpf?

Anonymous2023-09-15T01:41:36.6033333+00:00 Does this behavior happen on different devices and different network scenarios？It would be better if you could tell us the API that you are using in your WPF app and in your UWP app. Are you using the same API to do the download task?
Besides, have you checked the BackgroundTransfer class of UWP?

2023-09-21T10:28:13.73+00:00 We are using Listbox/Listview in both UWP and wpf apps, Compared to WPF app, UWP Listbox is taking more time to load and recycle the data.

UWP apps are designed to be sandboxed and have restricted access to certain system resources. This may lead to differences in network performance when compared to desktop applications like WPF.

While WPF runs directly on the full .NET Framework with fewer restrictions, UWP introduces extra layers that can impact network calls and I/O performance, which is why you’re seeing a download complete in 11 seconds on WPF versus 33 seconds on UWP. To improve performance, you can try using
HttpClientwith proper caching and connection pooling, ensure that operations are not blocking the main UI thread, enable compression on the server side to reduce payload size, and use Visual Studio Performance Tools to profile the application and identify bottlenecks. This performance gap is fairly common, so if raw speed is critical—much like how efficiency is essential in large-scale projects such as steel buildings Utah—then WPF might be the more suitable option unless you specifically require the UWP ecosystem.
