Hi,
We are currently migrating a customer from Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2019. But before we actually start the migration I'm fixing some things that I find annoying.
Exchange 2013 works great, no complaints but when users go to the OWA or ECP page using a browser, you don't get the default blue/white logon page but instead you only get a username and password box. Looks very strange. Also when logging of from OWA it tells you to close the browser to end the session.
I believe this has to do with the config of the OWA and ECP virtual directories. I'm told I can switch these to Forms Based Authentication to fix this, however before I do, I need to know for sure if this in any way has an effect on Outlook connections. I have about 200 people that use Outlook without issue and I don't want any surprises...

Agreed with Andy that the Outlook clients won't be affected at all. Because the changes on OWA and ECP virtual directories will only have effect on OWA or ECP.

Nope, that wont affect Outlook clients at all. Its strictly a setting for OWA and EAC access.

Changing the authentication method on the OWA and EAC virtual directories does not affect Outlook MAPI/HTTP connections.
OWA and EAC authentication settings are only used for browser access.
If Forms Based Authentication is used, Basic Authentication should also remain enabled because FBA depends on it.
